Over the past few years I have set myself the challenge to document the birds found on our 80 acres of river country just west of Dubbo on the Macquarie River. These posts (so far 40) are a work in progress and the images will no doubt change as I catch better and better shots.
Our property is an irrigated small farm, growing lucerne and other crops for hay as well as running cattle and the compulsory horse. We have an ever expanding garden which currently covers about 3 acres when you include the sheds, fruit trees and my riding arena.
The garden consists of a number of large eucalypt trees with an understory of bottle brushes, crepe myrtle, calestemon, hop bushes, white cedar trees, mulberry, flowering ash, hops bushes, and a pine (??) hedge on the western side. The base plants consist heavily of lavender, agapanthus, irises and roses.
We have a red cattle dog, but no cats...
